SINGLE HEALTH INSURANCE

The cost of living is increasing every day and in these times of economic hardship, many have had to sacrifice things that should be a universal human right. The cost of health insurance in the United States is one of the highest in the world. It is one of the only developed countries in the world that does not provide a public health care system. This cost is especially cumbersome for those without families.

Individuals paying for their own health insurance have faced increasingly expensive health care policies. In Ohio, the premiums recently raised 4%. Many think that this percentage will be even higher. This comes as devastating news in a time where many people have been laid off and no longer are covered by their employers insurance. The situation continues to get worse.

Law requires insurance companies to provide coverage for people who have any preexisting conditions. These policies are only permitted during a 30-day period. After these 30 days they would have to renew the insurance. These companies have no limit on the cost of these policies with outrageous  conditions but on average an open enrollment policy is between $800 to $850.
Average health care costs for an individual in Ohio without preexisting conditions is about $300.

This is a time when many are struggling to keep ends meet. Increasing health care prices are a subject of much worry and debate. When they need to be worrying about getting back to work and earning money, they shouldnt have to wonder if they will be able to make their next health insurance payment. These increasing health insurance rates for singles need to be controlled, and quickly.
